Young 3's
Greetings everyone!
We have had such a wonderful start to spring. We have enjoyed beautiful weather and done some really fun activities in the classroom. I hope the children have shared with you a bit about our recent adventures.
Our themes for May are: garden vegetables, farm animals, pond life, and space (planets, sun, moon, and stars). We have restarted the alphabet and will be looking at letter B during the week of May 7. Please remember that show-n-share is every Wednesday. Please allow your child to bring an item that begins with the letter of the week. We continue to focus on a color and shape each week. We also review numbers, days of the week, and months of the year daily. In addition to chapel each Monday, Ms. Anna holds Bible Time every afternoon.
Please remember to bring sunscreen and a change of clothes (including socks) for your child.
Important dates to remember:
May 23-24: Picture Days
May 28: ORWS is closed for Memorial Day
June 1: ORWS closes at 5:00 for Pre-K Graduation and Fun Day
As always, please see me with any questions. Thank you so much for all you do!
Best,
Jessica

Hello, everyone! I am Ms. Jessica and I am delighted to be your child's new teacher. I truly look forward to learning more about each and every child. My goal is to create in our classroom an atmosphere ideal for continuous learning opportunities. We will have a circle time daily and complement our letter of the week and theme of the week with various art activities. You can expect us to do some cooking activities and science experiments too.
I plan to keep a parent/teacher communication notebook on top of our classroom cubbies. Feel free to leave a dated message inside the notebook; I will be sure to respond promptly. Because I will only be in the classroom from 7:30-2:00, I may not be able to communicate orally with each parent daily. The notebook seems a fitting method for addressing questions or concerns from parents whom I may not see on a regular basis.
Reminders:
- Please make sure you have a seasonably appropriate change of clothes for your child.
- Please do not send your child in pull-ups.
- Everyone should wear underwear.
- Sunscreen must be signed in as a 12-month medication.
- Backpacks, blankets, and soft animals are welcome, but they will need to stay in your child's cubby until nap time.
- Please leave toys and food at home.
- For your child's safety, please do not send him/her in flip-flops.
We always appreciate donations to our classroom. Colored items for sorting are fantastic. Snacks like M&M's and skittles are perfect.
Just a bit about myself:
I have been at the Weekday School for about six years. It's like my second home! My husband and I have a Kindergartner, Connor, and a two year-old, Tasker Brett. I am currently pursuing my master's in English at UNCG. I love, love, love to read, but I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my wonderful family.
Again, please do not hesistate to ask questions. Effective communication will help us succeed in creating the best learning environment for each child. Thanks for all that you do!

As a ministry of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church the Christian beliefs are an essential component in the care that we provide. Beginning with our littlest lambs, we believe in teaching Christ’s love. Our toddlers are read Bible stories, learn easy Christian songs, learn that blessings occur at every meal, and are taught about God’s beautiful creation in all that they see.
Learning how to interact with other children is a big part of each day for the toddlers, but they are also busy discovering a lot more about themselves, too. Our approach enables children to gain self-confidence and independence as they grow. Our teachers plan activities that are designed to enhance your child’s growth and prepare him/her for the next stage of development.
We keep documented assessments on your child’s development. We develop weekly lesson plans to introduce new activities and learning experiences. The lesson plan is posted in the class room.
