Creepers
May News
Hello Parents:

May has arrived already.  The months just fly by.  This month we will be making a little something for Mommt.  We will read books that are about mommies (human and otherwise : ).  Our Creepers love these kind of books.  We will, of course, continue to paint--something else the Creepers love.  Our colors will range from strawberry red to flowery purple.  That is what is most fun about summer--lots of color!!!
We only have one Birthday ini May. Ms. Kate turns 1 on May 14th.
Thanks to all our great parents for your help and support during our Four Star Assessment.  We appreciate all of your understanding.  Always feel free to express any questions or concerns you may have.

Basic Classroom Information
We read to our children throughout the day. We also include Bible stories to help familiarize them with God's word. We sing several songs a day and the children love to listen and babble along. We do say a simple blessing before meals. We introduce to each child the sign languate for the following words and phrases: please, thank you, and more. The children will do artwork like finger-painting and scribbling.  Outdoor time will be included in our day as weather permits.  Please bring shoes for your child for our outdoor time.

Please label all bottles and lids with your child's name and the date.  Any other foods belonging to your child should also be labeled.  Please be sure to fill out a daily sheet each morning.  Also, remember to sign in and out daily--the form is located in the front of our daily notebook.  All sunscreen and creams must be placed in a plastic ziploc bag labeled with your child's name, the product name, and its expiration date.  Please ask for a form for these.  Each child needs a collage of her/his family to display in our classroom. Because wall space is limited, please use a 11x14 sheet of paper, or smaller.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.  Let's work together for a great year.

Welcome Creepers
Welcome to our New School year. We are happy to have your and your child in our classroom. My name is Lisa. Most of you already know me. My name is Ms. Rosemary and I have been employed by ORWS for two years. I have an Associate's Degree in Medical Technology and worked in a pediatric doctor's office for four years. At ORWS I have worked in the Infant room and I am currently enjoying the Creeper room. I have my Early Childcare credentials one and two, as well as numerous Early Childhood workshops. I look forward to meeting your and your child!

Creepers - Baby Chicks

Ratio is 8:2

Our creeper classroom is designed to provide a home-like atmosphere, in which your baby can grow.

Creepers will have a blast discovering the world around them at Oak Ridge Weekday School.  All of the senses will be awakened as they play in the classroom, on the playground and explore the world on daily baby buggy rides around the campus.

  • As a ministry of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church the Christian beliefs are an essential component in the care that we provide. Beginning with our littlest lambs, we believe in teaching Christ’s love. Our creeper room staff reads Bible stories to the babies, talks about God’s beautiful creation in all that they see, and says the blessing with them before meals daily.
  • We maintain a low teacher-child ratio, so that your baby received the utmost personal attention.
  • Our staff forms bonding relationships with our creepers to foster a sense of security and trust. They provide lots of cuddly laps, open arms, and special moments through singing talking and reading and have lots of hugs, smiles and kisses for each child.
  • Creepers are transitioned from cribs to cots and from high-chairs to child-sized table and chairs to prepare them to become toddling turtles in the toddler room.
  • Our classrooms are set up to promote growth and development. We have a soft, safe place to roll over and pull up, to creep and crawl, and to step out. In our creeper room, you will find treasure baskets filled with soft fabric or natural materials, sensory toys, and lots of great books to hold (and chew on!). There are musical instruments, toys for pretend play and push toys to encourage babies to take their first steps. Our playground provides many safe activities and pieces of equipment to help develop gross motor skills.

You will also receive a Daily Report about your baby’s personal care

Open communication is the key to helping your family stay informed while your baby is in our care. Our daily report includes:

  • Your baby’s eating, sleeping, and diaper-changing schedule
  • Special moments reported by your baby’s teachers throughout the day
  • Any notes from the teacher

We also keep documented assessments on your child’s development. We develop monthly lesson plans to introduce new activities and learning experiences. The lesson plan is posted in the classroom and will be on our website soon.
