Daily Bible Verse

Matthew 5:43-45
“[Love for Enemies] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Infants - Little Lambs

Ratio is 6:2

Our infant program is designed to provide a home-like atmosphere in which your baby can grow.

Infants will have a blast discovering the world at Oak Ridge Weekday School. Their senses will awaken as they play in the classroom and explore the outdoors on daily bye-bye buggy rides around the school.

  • As a ministry of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, Christian beliefs are an essential component in the care we provide. Beginning with our littlest lambs, we believe in teaching Christ's love. Our infant room teachers read Bible stories daily, discuss God's beautiful creations all around them, and say the blessing with the babies before meals.
  • We maintain a low teacher-infant ratio so that your baby receives the most personal attention
  • Our infant room teachers bond with the infants to foster an atmosphere of security and trust. They provide opportunities for enjoying one-on-one cuddling and also provide special moments for learning through singing, talking, and reading. There is never a shortage of smiles, hugs, and kisses!
  • Each infant is led through a series of simple but fun daily exercises so that motor skills can also be developed.
  • Our classroom is set up to promote growth and development. We have soft, safe areas for rolling over, pulling up, creeping, and crawling. The infant room is full of soft toys, sensory toys, and wonderful books for holding (and chewing!). There are musical instruments, toys for pretend play, and many opportunites for infants to further their explorations through tummy time.
You will receive a daily report regarding your baby's personal care.
Open communication is key to helping your family stay informed while your baby is in our care.
Our daily report includes:
  • your baby's eating, sleeping, and diaper changing schedule
  • special moments recorded by your baby's teachers
  • notes regarding your baby's personal needs (i.e., your baby needs diapers)

We also keep assessment of your child's development. We create and implement monthly lesson plans to introduce new activities new activities and learning experiences. Lesson plans are posted in the classroom.

About the Infants Teachers

Deandra Dalton (Ms. Dee)
I am a graduate of Northwest Guilford High School.  I earned my Early Childhood Education Certificate at GTCC.  I became interested in children at a young age when I babysat and taught Sunday School at my church.  I've worked with children in a professional childcare setting for five years and I have always worked with infants.  I am the lead teacher in the infant class and have been at ORWS for a year.  I do love taking care of the little ones!

Pamela Manns (Ms. Pam)
I have been at ORWS for 2 years and 7months.  I've worked with schoolagers and for the past year I have been a teacher in the infant room.  I am married, the mother of two daughters, and a grandmother to one grandson.  I received my credentials in Early Childhood Education in the fall of 2008.  I have also taken other Early Childhood courses.  I love children and enjoy working with the babies.  I welcome your child to the infant room and look forward to caring for him/her this school year.

January News

2012…HAPPY NEW YEAR! ! !

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!  A big “Thank You!” to all of our wonderful parents for the gifts and holiday wishes!

For the month of January, we will be doing our normal daily activities, art work, reading to our infants, looking at pictures, playing and of course, buggy rides.  We love to get out of the room for a daily stroll, which may be inside, but if the weather permits, we will ride outside, so please make sure your child has a coat and hat.

Welcome to Anna, our newest baby who joined us in December. She is adjusting quite well.

Reminders:

ORWS will be closed on Monday, January 2nd for the New Year holiday.

Please continue to make sure bottles are labeled correctly every day.  Your child’s name and date should be on the bottle and his/her initials should be on the lids.

Make sure you sign your child in and out every day.
